Roland E. Groder ’62
Roland Edward Groder, 83 passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025. Born May 15, 1941 in Gardiner, Maine, he was the son of Sebastian and Frances Groder. Roland was a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy. His early career was in domestic and international Maritime Engineering. Later, he became an Owner/Broker of Remax Real Estate on St. Croix, USVI. He and Susan spent 22 years building a life together on the island they loved so dearly. The happy memories the children and grandchildren created while visiting will always be one of his greatest gifts.
After moving to Rocky Mount, Roland continued his passion for real estate as an agent for Coldwell Banker. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and served his parish as an Eucharistic Minister and as an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Roland was a kind, gentle man and a friend to all.
Roland is survived by his loving wife of over 28 years, Susan; his children, Glenn Bulliner (Kelley), Lisa Godwin, Charlie (Jane) Groder, Jill (David) Lettice, Karen (Geno) Groder and Shawn (Ashleigh) Bulliner; his grandchildren, Reilly (Dylan), Reid (Eddie), Bishop, Ann Parke, Caden and Charlie; and his sisters Joyce Haley and Elaine Fogerty.
